Design Service
Corrosion control makes the greatest economic sense at the design phase. The proper choice of materials and pro-active detailing can provide handsome savings of maintenance dollars, at very little cost expense. Bridges, docks, aquariums, process plants and buildings each make unique demands on restoration designers. We are practiced in the design of corrosion control systems for use on these complex structures. We first make sure that we understand the owner's structural life expectations and restoration and maintenance budget. As we do not sell or install corrosion control materials, our recommendations are not guided by any factor other than what makes the most sense for the project.
Cathodic Protection
Employing cathodic protection (CP) in the initial design makes sense in some environments. It is also often an appropriate corrosion control method in structure restoration. Tinnea & Associates' staff was involved in the development and application of thermal spray zinc CP since its initial development at CALTRANS. We have provided engineering services on all major types of CP for concrete. We also have extensive experience in marine cathodic protection.
Material Selection
Material selection involves more than specifying for example, stainless steel. Many types of stainless steel are inappropriate for use in some natural environments. We can provide your design team with independent expertise in material selection. Serious maintenance and restoration expense can be avoided by selecting the proper material for the job. We will help find the right material for your job at the right price. |
