Reinforced Concrete Bridges
Tinnea & Associates has successful experience with controlling corrosion on many reinforced concrete bridges. Included are prestressed structures, conventionally reinforced structures and bridges on the National Historic Registry. Our experience includes older bridges where carbonation played a role in deterioration.
Corrosion Control
Our practice includes the design of impressed current and galvanic cathodic protection systems, chloride removal, coatings, improved drainage, and concrete patching that is compatible with corrosion control methods. It also includes control of corrosion during initial construction.
Localized Corrosion
Jack Tinnea has been an invited speaker at meetings of the Transportation Research Board and AASHTO. At the 2001 Meeting of AASHTO's Subcommittee on Bridges & Structures, Jack made a presentation on localized corrosion. This is an insidious form of corrosion. Full section corrosion loss of rebar may occur, yet traditional sounding techniques do not indicate any problem. |
