We provide inspection and design services on corrosion issues in both existing and new construction. We have experience with buildings encountering corrosion due to their marine environments, including salt spray and hurricane damage. We provided emergency corrosion consultation for two dormitories that had suffered localized corrosion of hanger straps and had to be evacuated. After the building was stabilized, we provided the corrosion control design. Our experience with failure analysis provides valuable insight for new design strategies.
Parking Garages
Chloride contamination of parking garages is a frequent problem. Two common sources are marine environments and deicing salts. Corrosion can also be a problem in non-contaminated structures. We are experienced with corrosion problems in slabs that resulted from moisture differentials without chloride contamination. Included are retaining walls and slabs that utilized combined form and reinforcing corrugated sheets.
